: i went to my pet shop to buy a Taiwan beauty he says they can grow really fat and made an example, it was baby anacona size his example. this snake is mean to be an adult and is 6ft or so, please tell me this is wrong and can someone give me the cage size
Your dealer may not be wrong. My 4-yr-old Elaphe t.freisei is over 3-1/2" thick, 9 ft long, 7+lbs of weight and eats half-pound rats like a wolf! His head is over an inch wide, and these are fairly slim snakes! He is currently in a 100 gallon tank (48x18x18) and he'll need a bigger one soon... TB's are partially arboreal so I'd say build a cage as big as you can- 6 ft x 6ft x 3 ft wide with climbing branches & a shelf would not be oversized for a single adult. Newspaper doesn't work for adults: they are too big and active- even multiple sheets get torn up just from him moving over them. His dumps are boa-constrictor-sized, too. Bed-A-Beast might work if you use about 3" thick layer. I use indoor- outdoor carpet and change the pieces twice a week. The water bowl is a turkey roaster, and not all of him fits at once. Magnificent animals, though!
