: I'm curious about how fast they grow.Any explanations?I would also like to here about the size of others 2000 obsoletas.
Hello,
I don't have size measurements of my 2000 hatch obsoletas, but like you said they can vary. Most likely this variation can be explained by a combination of factors: meal size, frequency of feeding, temperature, genetics, etc.
I have found that the ones that grow the fastest are the ones that can handle larger prey items sooner. The rate of growth I experience in my obsoleta hatchlings is much greater in these animals. Once they are on fuzzy mice, they begin to really put on some size.
Feeding frequency also plays a part, but maybe not as much as meal size. A smaller snake that ate two or three pinkies every 3 days would also show excellent growth. Of course the temperature you keep your snakes has an impact as well, since metabolism is higher at higher temps and vice versa. Temps that are warm enough allow the snake to digest its food more efficiently, and thus be ready for another meal sooner, ;)
Take care,
dg
