In Reply to: Transpecos still not eating, HELP!.... posted by sue on March 08, 2001 at 09:37:04:
I think raising the temps was a good move. I keep my adult subocs at 85 and they seem to stay at the warm end. Plus, higher temps usually help stimulate the appetite. I was going to list and describe some "tricks of the trade" for you to try, but I found a wonderful website that does a great job of explaining them all, so I'll save my fingers the typing and tell you how to get there. I'm sure Happy Herps won't mind if I plug their website! Go to the link below and then click on "feeding guide". The pages take a while to load, probably because of all the pictures. On the feeding guide page, scroll to the end of the pics. There will be a section on feeding tips that include braining, washing, deli cup, etc. Let us know which of these works for you! Definitely try a live pinky though. I have an adult suboc that still only eats life (or "almost dead"), which drives me nuts, but he's gotta eat. Sometimes it just takes lots of experimentation to figure out exactly what the snake is holding out for.
Good luck,
Ronda
