I just got a baby male a few months ago. He has been challenging - very shy and doesn't like to be handled too much. When I first got him he frequently stuck at me while being in hand. Now he usually calms down after a few minutes and rarely strikes any longer. I have been very lucky in terms of getting him to eat. I was tease feeding him before, but now I find him more willing to feed. He is doing well. He's a very cool animal!
: What does everyone think of Spilotes pullatus? While it isn't even necessarily closely related to Elaphe, it LOVES rats so I guess that makes it a good "rat snake"...Does anyone out there keep them? If so, what issues have you come into? I have a big one (7+ feet) and while he isn't much for human company, he's absolutely fascinating...
: Any thoughts are appreciated...
