Sue, I could be wrong, but it sounds like you may be feeding too much. My baby Subocs get one large pinkie a week at the most. In some cases, I feed them once every two weeks.
In my opinion, nearly all captive snakes are over-fed. Most of my collection is wild-caught. I kept length and weight information from the day I caught them and use that information to keep up with their weight. What I found was that my initial once a week feeding was creating a stable full of obese animals.
Keeping them just a bit on the lean side seems to keep them active in their cages and over all more healthy. My adults males eat one mouse every three weeks. My adult females get one every two weeks. I find that my babies seem to thrive on one pinkie a week, generally.
I never "push" my animals. My overall feeding philosophy is geared toward the health of each individual animal. I'm sure there are those who will disagree with my technique, but it is working quite well for my animals.
