In Reply to: Does anyone know of a vietnam. Blue Beauty snake care sheet? posted by Stacy on February 12, 2001 at 16:25:45:
You probably won't find any care sheets on this species, as very little has been written about them specifically. Both Reptiles and Vivarium magazines have each run one article on them.
Terry is right though they are exactly like the other beauties. The main difference I have found with mine is that they are more sensitive to low humidity during shedding than the taiwans, most notably in the young specimens.
They do hide all day, I rarely see mine, so supplemental light is unnecessary, especially full spectrum. You'll do best to heat with a heat pad.
I keep young ones mainly on newspaper, and use cypress mulch for adults.
: Hey! I am getting a lue beauty rat snake really soon, and i just want to make sure i give it the best care possible. I have a 55 gal. front opening cage and a small tank heater. (They err to cooler temps.) I mainly want to know if a daylight cycle spotlight will be ok, or a full spec light. Also, what is the best substrate? (Would lizard liner work?)
