I currently have a 2 year old Black Rat Snake and am considering buying a California Kingsnake.
First, I understand that these cannot be housed together. Just want to verify this information.
Second, the Cal King is a juvenile and his colors are black with yellow stripes down the side and broken yellow marks down his back all running the length of the snake. I cannot find out specifics to the type and the store manager says he only knows DOB, sex, and that it is a Banded Cal King. Does anyone know what morph or other details this may be?
Third, there is a small dimple on the side of the Cal King toward his tail, scales are intact. Will this disappear with shedding or possibly worsen? Love the color and attitude of the snake, but want to ensure quality...came from Fl.
Lastley, I am considering building a two cage stand for the two snakes. I am thinking of using Red Oak finished with Polyurethane and sliding front glass. Is there any problem with this and what is the best substrate for keeping the snakes?
I would like to get email addresses or phone numbers of anyone willing to communicate directly with a newby in this business.
