: I talked to Terry last night and asked about his animal again. He has not been able to have the ID scientifically confirmed. Scale counts alone would probably not be a very conclusive method in this case, but a DNA analysis would have to be performed. His snake was found by somebody who would've killed it, had it not been for the unusual coloration. In other words, this individual is definitely not in any way related to the hobby. Given these circumstances, and the fact that many veterans of the hobby have looked at it and without a doubt identified it as an E. o. s., it is very likely that the snake is what Terry suspects.
: He only lives about 30 minutes from where I live and he has invited me to take a look at the snake a couple of times, but I have just been too busy to make the trip. I hope to see the animal some time this spring.
: Tom, I have to agree with you, naturally (or "wild") colored snakes also look a lot nicer to me than color morphs (see specimen pictured above).
: Thank you both (Tom and Dwight) for the valid points and questions you raised in this very constructive manner, we need more of these in the forums (actually this forum is a lot better than some of the other ones :-)

: Best regards,

: Sacha
