In Reply to: New trans-pecos striking... posted by sue on December 19, 2000 at 16:54:08:
: I bought a second trans-pecos because I was so impressed at how docile my first one was and all the reading that I was doing said how docile they were as a species. I handled him at the show before I bought him and he was fine. I brought him home, put him into the tank, and left him alone for about 48 hours. Then I went in to pick him up. He S-curved (it was a beautiful, classic S-curve, also) and struck. Of course, he is so little that I couldn't even tell he had actually hit me. Of course, then I HAD to pick him up, so he wouldn't think that I was scared off by his little display. He was fine once I got him out. Anyone else experience this with these guys? I figure that it was the stress of the move from his previous owner to here, so he should calm down the more I handle him.
