: My snake right now has the pattern of a grey rat but the petstore told me it was a black rat. is there any way to determine what he is before he grows? if he is a black rat, will his pattern dissapear to become solid black?
There's no way I know of to tell a young black rat and a young grey rat apart... if he's a black rat, he'll start turning black as he gets older, but most of them still have some patterning visible throughout their lives, rather than becoming solid black.
