I disagree about Baird's rats... some of the most stunning snakes I've ever seen have been adult Baird's, and I think they only get better with age. Amelanistic black rats, on the other hand, are just ugly their whole lives, if you ask me, but, then again, I've never been as fond of pink in a snake as everyone else seems to be.
