It should calm down with some handling. As long as you are willing to get bit, you should not have any problems. With a lot of people, once they get bit they shy away from handling the animal. By getting right back in there, you are showing the snake that its attempts at driving you away do not work. You get the occasional snake that will never settle down but that is rare. Persistence is the key
