update on fox snake pyrethrin overdose (long)

A few weeks ago I was looking for info on treatment for fox snakes suffering from an overdose of pyrethrins from Provent-a-mite. Bob Pound from Pro-Products told me that if the animals survived the first 48-72 hours after poisoning they would make a complete recovery in the next week or so. I am happy to report that this was the case for me. Of the nine fox snakes effected one died within 24 hours and the other eight animals made a complete recovery. They are all eating and behaving normally. Bob felt that I had applied the spray from too close to the surface and therefore had produced too thick a layer of the spray. When I next (cautiously) applied the spray to a cage at the required distance the results were uneventful. Even snakes that had formerly been effected acted normal. Thanks Bob for your timely info. It was a relief to know that the snakes weren't permanently injured. Oh, and of course the mite problem is solved.
