I'd let it go, since over-wintering is going to cause some problems for both you and the snake. I believe you would have to hibernate it. The snake is eventually going to want to, so you'd have to be able to do that anyway. Best bet is to get prepared, then go out in the spring and find another one. Juvies are usually common in the spring. Also you could try to find a Herp Club near you that could help you with the mice. Someone would probably be willing to mail you mice even. Good luck.
