I rescued a small snake from inside the local post office here in
Bishop, Georgia.
Closest thing I have found is a gray rat snake, but the marking vary
somewhat from the pictures I have seen in books. The snake has
round eyes and round pupils. The head is somewhat triangular
especially when he is alarmed as in the pic I have posted.

He puffs his head up and strikes when he or she is alarmed.
Otherwise the head is not so prominent when he is traveling
along the ground.
