? sick black rat

I have an adult male albino black rat snake. About two months ago I began noticing small( 2-3 cm.) strands of white snotty looking material in the cage. These would show up about twice a week. The snake appears outwardly healthy. He eats, poops and sheds regularly. He exibits no gaping, sneezing or wheezing. He is in a rack set at 82 degrees at the high end. Has anyone seen this before? Is it problematic? Thanks all.
