we got 2 clutches of 8 and 10 eggs ea. we have three females ready to go this year, and of course we are holding back quite a number of animals to increase the size of our group. the babies hatched out VERY male heavy, and even selling reverse trios leaves us with a high number of extra males. what a great snake though.....
as for as set up and breeding, we keep these guys in our colubrid room, the coolest room in our facility, with the adults in 20 gallon long tanks. we use cypress mulch for a substrate, with misting twice a day, leaving a moist side and a drier side. we use a thick piece of grapevine for perching, but also cork bark flats set up against the tank. day temps are 72-85 degrees, and nighttime temps are 68-80. there is an elevated basking spot under a light to ofer 90 degrees, but the animals spend much of the day on the cool side under the water bowl, or actually soaking. they are shy feeders, but eat solidly once a week. We will have these guys at the San Diego show in October if any of you folks want to stop by and see them in person, including one of the adults (most likely). They are even a more spectacular snake in person, as some of you guys (so very few) know :)
