Yellow Ratsnake Projects
_________________________
The relocation of Yellow Ratsnakes
I have saved tons of these snakes from the *butcher*. They are just all over my area in Florida. I've caught plenty of them trying to get into our aviary.
What do you do when this happens? I don't think killing this mildly aggressive snake is going to help. Please note that not all of these are aggressive. I've had docile ones too, but in most cases (70+%, they are mildly aggressive). I usually take them a few blocks away and hope that they don't come back.
Yellow Ratsnakes as pets?
These would have to be the easiest snakes to take care of. I have never had one that wouldn't eat just about anything. My first yellow ratsnake ate tree frogs. It would catch them in the air before they ever hit the cage floor. Awesome!
They will also eat mice, rats, birds, and just about anything. When they deficate, it's usually less solid, more runny. Which is kinda bad, but that's life.
Did you know?
Yellow ratsnakes have the ability to hood up something like a cobra? Most of them will just shake their tails mimicing rattlesnakes, but in rare instances, we'll run accross a highly aggressive one that will mimic a cobra by hooding. This isn't as impressive as watching a cobra hood since it can't hood as good as a cobra, but it's impressive none the less. Awesome!
