gulf hammock rat snakes?????....

My husband picked up a couple of snakes advertised as 'gulf hammock rat snakes' which are supposably a natural hybridization of two Florida species. Anyone know anything about this? He didn't pay much for them, and their entertaining snakes so I'm not too worried if the guy was giving hubby a cock-and-bull. (especially since hubby did bring me home a GORGEOUS female radiated rat to pair with our male :) )

any info on this species(?) would be appreciated!
