if i want to hold mine, i don't turn on their light in the morning, so they're a bit sluggish (though certainly not cold, they're in the mid-70's) and they start to associate my hands with warmth. I also wash my hands well first, because the smell of my cats on my hands flips 'em out. and i try to pick them up if they're coiled under and object quickly, so they don't get scared of my fingers
