....they are from about 40* N., or higher, and also high altitude snakes, in the Caucasus Mtns, so I would imagine quite different from mandarina, which is montane, but from below 30* N. mainly. Mandarin rats are nocturnal, and I think hohenackeri would be diurnal and opportunistic because of the short unpredictable summers. I would pretty much agree with Sacha and Soe's info. I would like to see how much like situla they are. I believe they are related, and thus a part of the miniature Eurasian ratsnake group. TC.
: I have not seen these available and was wondering if anyone in the US was working with them. If so, what kind of care is needed. Are they a colder climate snake such as mandarina, situla etc. or can they be kept in the low-mid 80's? What kind of brumation is required? Low temps for a short period(or long period), or just maybe a small temp change in coordination with a change in photoperiod. Are the babies easy to get started on mice or are they lizard/frog eaters? Any info regarding these snakes would be helpful. Thanks for your time. Derek Roberts
