I am considering trying to obtain Eastern Fox Snakes to use for am educational native species display, and pass them off as western fox snakes, because that is what we have here in wisconsin. I now have a pair of 3-4 ft 3 Y.O. westerns that I raised from hatchlings. Even though raised in captivity, they manage to exhibit all of the obnoxious characteristics typical of wild-caught adult westerns: inconsistent feeders, love to mutilate their noses by rubbing them raw trying to force their way out of the cages, continually restless, do not grow well due to inconsistent feeding and restlessness, totally crappy and unhappy captives and display animals since they are skinny and have deformed noses. I need something that looks like them, but has the disposition of a corn snake. Are easterns a good bet, or do they also exhibit these undesireable characteristics?
