Hello everyone,
The rufodorsata seem to do best set up in a slightly moist environment as opposed to say aspen or other dry bedding. I've gotten about 50% to eat immediately on f/t pinks/fuzzies. The others prefer goldfish. I have mine set up on moist bed a beast w/ green moss on top. They are much more laid back than the wc beauty snakes I have!!! I was lucky enough to get 2 gravid females and have one give me 9 beautiful babies! There was one stillborn and 2 slugs.
I hope to have pics for everyone tomorrow.
p.s. Thanks to everyone who has emailed me about them. Andrew
: Hello everyody!
: I am enamored with the rare european/asian ratsnakes,
: and one little serpent which has caught my eye has been
: the red-backed ratsnake, Elaphe rufodorsata. I have read that
: they are live bearers, and are not true Elaphe, much like Elaphe
: carinata, and females are hard to come by. I was wondering if anyone has any info on the care and breeding on this neat little species.
: Thanks very much
: As ever
