I think that may be part of it. In my opinion, and there are ALOT of people out there with more educated ones than I, it is just a natural thing with ratsnakes. I have seen many ratsnake hatchlings (yellow, everglades, texas, black,etc.) that come out with nice patterns and wind up sorta patternless or completely different as adults. If there are any changes in patterns I will take a pic and post or email it to you.
