Our blue beauty eggs are due to hatch next weekend & I want to make sure that I'm ready for them.
First, can anyone confirm how long between hatch date & first meal? I'd heard not until after the first shed, but someone else just told me to try right away?
Second, I'm expecting a couple babies to hatch but be weak b/c we had some humidity problems early on. Does anyone have any suggestions for improving their chances? I've heard that sometimes they'll eat pinkie heads when they won't take the whole thing. Also, the consensus seems to be that they all need to be fed every seven days--is this the minimum or the ideal? Since this is our only batch at the moment we can afford however much time it takes.
Finally, how long can the babies be housed together (yes, seperated at feeding)? If all eight of them hatch, I'll be a bit short on heat pads & I really don't like using the lights--they just don't give me a gradiant that I'm happy with in the smaller tanks.
Any other advise/warnings/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
