i asked dr. bechtel about the scaleless specimen when he gave a lecture in houston. the specimen was bought from the snake farm in new braunfels. a zoo purchased it and dr. bechtel did some work with it. the zoo was very adament about controlling the genitics. they have no intention of allowing it into the private sector. their reasons for this make little sense. dr. bechtel returned the specimens as requested. otherwise he might not have the oppertunity to work with similar rarities in the future. i'm sure anyone how has read dr. bechtel's book would agree with his decision.
