You seem to have a pretty good handle already. If there's other reptiles in the room you may have to disinfect them too. Remove substrate where mites breed. Put snakes in a clean cage if you want to treat them separately. Use 1x1 inch No-Pest piece for a ten gal. tank, and suspend above the tank slightly. I use a deli cup with little holes in it on top of tank. Use larger pieces for larger tanks. Leave three days (approx.), and repeat in 10-11 days when eggs have had a chance to hatch. Meanwhile disinfect original cage. Wash thoroughly with hot water and some disinfectent. Rinse thoroughly. Do the treatment with No Pest. Rinse thoroughly. If not done with care the mites will come back. They breed very quickly and can spread through a room if not treated. Read up on their life cycle. It's very interesting for an entomologist.
