Congratulations!! I had really hoped for eggs from my female, and I got some, but unfortunately they were all bad. What's worse she ended up having to have surgery for two eggs she retained and could not pass. However, she's recovering nicely and eating well. (Thanks again Mike H. for all your helpful input - much appreciated!) The surgeon said she looked healthy and should be able to breed - hope so.

Our female blue beauty laid 8 eggs last night...since we just saw them locked a couple weeks ago we weren't anticipating them this soon...though she had been a little fatter than usual (not as much as I had expected though), and did do a shed last week.

: We currently have the eggs in a sweater box over a heat pad (ventilation holes in lid). The heat pad is hooked to a thermostat that is keeping the vermiculite temp at 82F. We're keeping the humidity as high as we can--it's about 95 right now. The eggs are covered in about 1/4" of the vermiculite. So what are we missing??? Neither of us ever really planned on breeding--buying a breeding pair was an accident.

: We're concerned because the eggs sort of sunk a bit on the top as they hardened. Is this normal? Anything we should be looking for or doing would be really appreciated! I've read through all the old posts I could find and we're trying to follow those instructions.

: thanks,
: Kris

: Oh, and no, we haven't candled any yet--have to wait for it to get dark! :)
