i have an adult rat snake (at least i think he's an adult) that i feed mostly on stillborn rat pinkies (or mice, or gerbils, or hamsters). i freeze the pinkies in a small thermos and thaw them in a cup of water when it's time to feed him. my questions are: how many pinkies do i need weekly to make sure he's getting enough nutrition? is there any nutritional difference between a larger animal (a fuzzy rat, an adult mouse) and a pinky? i'd prefer to feed the stillborns, given an option. my snake is a little over 4 feet long but i don't know his weight. he seems to have no problem eating pre-killed food; however, thawing the pinkies in water seems to "cook" them a little, turning their flesh gray instead of pink. i do make sure they're thoroughly thawed before feeding him. if no-one knows exactly how many would be needed per week, could someone give me an idea in terms of how many ounces of food would be needed?
if you want to see a picture of Jeremy, see the post below this one. he's a little younger in that picture- has grown too big to fit in his shoe anymore :-)
