: We currently have the eggs in a sweater box over a heat pad (ventilation holes in lid). The heat pad is hooked to a thermostat that is keeping the vermiculite temp at 82F. We're keeping the humidity as high as we can--it's about 95 right now. The eggs are covered in about 1/4" of the vermiculite. So what are we missing??? Neither of us ever really planned on breeding--buying a breeding pair was an accident.
: We're concerned because the eggs sort of sunk a bit on the top as they hardened. Is this normal? Anything we should be looking for or doing would be really appreciated! I've read through all the old posts I could find and we're trying to follow those instructions.
: thanks,
: Kris
I incubate my blue beauty eggs at 82 with humidity at or above 90%.
You said you have the eggs covered in the vermiculite. Your better off setting them on top of about 2 or 3 inches of moist vermiculite. Mine did slightly collapse during incubation but did all hatch. They should hatch after about 65 days.
Check out the link below for the incubator design I use.
