I recently acquired a black rat snake. It was in my dad's storage building and his wife is deathly afraid of any and all snakes. He gave me a call and I made the hour long journey to his house. It's three and a half to four feet long, and it's going to shed pretty soon. I've had him for two days and am probably going to let him go after he's eaten and shed. My question is this: Will it harm him to eat pre-killed, thawed prey a couple times? Also, my dad has about thirty acres or so, and I planned to release it in the woods far away from their house, is it probable that he will be able to find a food source and thrive that far from his capture site? On the off chance I decide to keep it, how do you get rid of internal parasites, providing it has them? For that matter how would I know if it had them?
