Hi Kyle,
Grey ratsnakes are excellent pets. You can feed it pinkies or hopper mice, depending on the size of the snake. If you handle the snake for about 10 minutes a day he soon will learn that you're no threat to him. Make sure he has a good hiding spot and a branch to climb. If it is a small snake the bites wont hurt you.
Good luck with it,
Iwan
: I found a Grey Rat Snake in my friends yard and it is just a baby and i was wondering if rat snakes make good pets. If so what could i feed it? Since it is wild when you try to pick it up it gets defensive and goes into and S position, if i keep the snake will it stop doing this if i handle him often? I havent been bit by it but does it hurt or is is it kinda like a piching feeling? Thanks, Kyle
