: Hey KJ,
: I nearly busted a gut on that one myself!! Oh boy, what a classic. I was beginning to wonder if anyone else was gonna notice.....

: KJ,you are correct, if someone has been crossing black and texas rats for several generations, then the lindheimeri influence could be diluted enough so that the cross I suggested would be in fact useless.

Guys. Thank you for all the input which I agree with.
Coming from Kansas and hunting Oklahoma and E. Texas all my adult life, I have seen ones in Texas I could sell for Kansas animals and vice-versa. Not surprisingly, many of the ones I've seen from Oklahoma look like both or either. I think DNA will be the only way to prove/disprove what's going on if anyone even cares that much. Like KJ says, if they truly are obsoleta obsoleta, someone should have the origin story. I think the people that are advertising them as leucistic black rats would be embarrassed if they think about how many all white, dark eyed colubrids are in our business. The odds that both of them would be from the species, borders fantasy. Or is it marketing stradegy??
