: What is a good size container to get rat snakes about 4-5 feet long to breed in?
I use the Rubbermaid Brand sweater boxes to house my animals. I have have found them to be quite sufficient to maintain (and breed) them in.
Should you put the male in the female's cage or vice versa?
I always put the female in the male's cage. I can't tell you why, that's just what I was taught by some experienced breeders.
How long at a stretch should you leave them together if you don't notice any activity?
I will usually leave them together overnight.
How often should you try putting them together?%
I usually put mine together every other day for about a week and a half. I will only put them together two or three times if I see them breed.
Hope this helps.
