Russian rat snake housing?

I was wondering if anyone had an "ideal" set up for making the snakes as happy as possible. Right now he's in a pretty basic set up (ie hide space, water bowl big enough for soaking, heat pad, cool side) and is healthy. But frankly, I think he's bored! Wants to come out and play all the time--never wants to go back in. Was wondering what other people's snakes had enjoyed in terms of climbing material etc.
