If he is a real "striker" at first, and it makes you hesitate to pick him up, try a latex glove...the kind that janitors and health care folks use. Pick him up with your gloved hand, and when he seems calm, transfer him to your ungloved one. You may be more confident with the glove, and they say that the snake does not like the latex taste. So he learns NOT to bite you. Good luck. Duffy
