:i forgot to mention this snake is from Campbell County, Virginia. the picture doesn't show it well, but note the yellowish-orange down the middle of the posterior half of the belly.

I found a D.O.R. blackrat two weeks ago had had absolutey NO black or black checking on the belly.Wish I had bee there a little bit earlier,I might have been able to catch it live.Ever see one with a pure white belly?
