They are great looking. I agree I always thought that the looked similar to the pituophis. Rick

:Not only is the head pointed, scalaris have a rostral scale that also suggests burrowing. Sacha Korell has a pic of one of his breeders and the head looks just like a pituophis. They are sort of the Pituophis of the European rat snakes.

::Love these kinds of pics. Even though I don't keep this species, I'm still interested in how it fits with the other ratsnakes. I think nice looks at the head, including profile, can tell a lot about a snake. This species has a pretty pointed nose, if I'm not mistaken, probably an adaptation for burrowing.

::Nice series of photos, Rick. Keep up the good work. And I'm sure lots of folks are looking at them, even if they don't ever open their mouths about it, LOL :)
