Its much more then just gopher snakes that are protected here. Washington state laws are harsh. ALL native wild life can not be kept without a very hard to get permit. Including captive bred. Say, rubber boas.. Only way you can LEGALLY own them, is if you have paperwork stating the parents were of Oregan/Idaho/Montana origin. They're picky like that. Given i have yet to know of anyone arrested or anything from having a wc from washington rubber boa.. heh. But you can't even have a pet crow legally here. It really sucks.
:a Northern Pine snake in New Jersey? I live in Bakersfield, CA. so don't ask. Norhtern Pines are protected in New Jersey (you can posses them with a permit) like gopher snakes are protected in Washington. Washington is a pretty state that's for sure and thanks for sharing some Washington nature pics.
