Rat snake quit eating

: Hi all. My 4 month old rat snake has quit eating. It has been eating 1 small thawed pinkie mouse 2x a week since we got him (12/30) without fail. The last 2 times we offered food, it did not eat. The last time I held the snake I noticed that it looks like one of the scales around it's mouth was raised. It has also had trouble shedding completely on it's head. I don't know if any of this is related to why it quit eating or not...I have not handled the snake since, since I don't know if it is sick, or uncomfortable. I dont want to stress it any more than need be...He's not the most personable snake in the world & quite hard to handle at first - it does settle down though. : Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated! : Thanx, : Debbie
