a Texas with a Mexican bairdi. I said I hadn't heard of anyone doing it. Dwight thought (and he may be wrong) that Adam Block may have put up a post that he had done it. Shannon Hiatt gave us the link to view Adams breeders and wanted to focus on the male looking like a Mexican Bairdi. There was a couple threads on it. I e-mailed Adam Block and made an inquiry on the locality and name of his founding breeders that Shannon has now. Adam replied he didn't know the locality of the founders and wished he knew. He made no mention of breeding Tex to a Mex. He is 99% sure they are pure Texas Bairdi. Based on Adam Blocks answers and discussions with several others (one of which is Shannon Hiatt). I consider my trio of bairdi to be Texas Bairdi, but have no locality data one them. I'm going to send one of the females to Shannon Hiatt next year (that will be her first breedable year) to back breed to Adam's founding male. We both want to see what it may or may not produce that will tell us anything. It may not tell us much about if the male may have Mex genes, but the offspring should have some strong genes of the male. If you have some of Adam's bairdi bloodline Paul, I consider them very nice looking Texas Bairdi. They're one of the best captive bairdi bloodlines. They do not have locality though. I was concerned at first on those other threads when there was an indication that Adam had crossed a Tex and Mex which would make me think he had misrepresented the trio I have. That is not the case.
:First off,
:Thanks to Bill Corwin for letting me post the pic. As soon as he sent me that pic, I knew I had to get involved in this project! That adult really looks stunning, and he told me he was even better in person. Also, I agree with all the statements made about looking like a hypo or even T + amel. Either way, the snake looks gorgeous.
:Haha, I know these Albino Bairdi posts always bring up some big discussion, so I had to jump on the opportunity to bring some more excitement to the board.
:Terry, we will definately have to do some trades in the future! Anyway, I will definately keep in touch about the Climacs, so I'm sure we'll have some more bairdi discussions sooner or later, plus I'll keep you posted on how the hets are doing.
:Oh, and here's one more topic for bairdi discussion - Adam Block's line. I am not putting him down, as I love the animals I received from him, but what is everyone's opinion on them? I remember Terry making a comment that he believes that Adam crossed a Mexican Bairdi x Texas Bairdi. If he did, that's really unfortunate - though I am not regretting the purchase of the animals as I stated. So, what are everyone's opinion on this? Actually, it would probably make the most sense to ask Shannon Hiatt since he has Adam's stock. Any comments Shannon? Thanks
:So, one of the next ratsnakes I am interested in - Bogertophis rosaliae (Baja Ratsnake). I have seen some pics of amazing specimens, but hear that some turn out a little drab. What does everyone think of them? I hope to acquire some this year.
:Well, thanks a lot for the fun Bairdi discussion guys!
:Paul
