I think their color and pattern goes with the territory and their habits, etc. I think the whole mimicry thing is highly overrated. If the mtn. kings are mimicing corals, how come the desert kings aren't mimicing anything. They're black and white, or black and yellow. Just some thoughts. TC.
:Kings are engaged in this whole mimicry thing with coral snakes. What are mandarins mimicing? They're on the other side of the world! Warning colors aren't any good unless you can pretend you're venomous. I think I've seen pics of banded mandarins that looked similar to what you're talking about.
