Thanks.. I'm down to the 2 now.. I traded one to Steve at Napa Valley, and now i miss her like crazy.. LOL. I'm wierd about my beauties. And no, no boyfriend yet.. SOMEONE LOAN ME A MALE!! lol..
There was a string of posts maybe last month or the month before about the subject.. alot of people said that taiwans get overweight easily and to not feed them larger food items.. Made me feel kind of stupid considering i've been under the impression the ENTIRE time i've been raising mine, that they eat good sized meals for a colubrid(compared to say, cornsnakes), which they seem to. I do tend to feed them something about the same width as their bodies.. When BigGirl has her large rat all the way down, you can hardly see a lump. And I do vary sizes and frequency so maybe thats why mine are fine with it.. I don't have a strict schedual, "all snakes MUST be fed on saterday at 8pm".. More like "oh its the weekend.. Should feed everybody soon".. heh.. Except for my horde of juvie corns and other things, which i tend to keep a good eye on on when they're done digesting meals.. anyhow, thanks for the viewpoint...
:Nice pics Kestrel. Those girls are growing up to look very nice. Did you get them a boyfriend yet?
:I have never heard anyone say to feed them small meals infrequently or they would get fat. Whoever said that must not have ever have actually kept any.
:I have noticed that if I feed mine a meal as large around as their largest diameter as often as I feed the same comparable size meal for their size to my other sub species of beauties that my tiawans will gain weight quicker. If I dont vary the feeding frequency or meal size between my tiawans and my other sub species of beauties my tiawans WILL get fat. I think some people want to feed them the hugest rat they can find because of their reputation for adult size and eating habits which is just not necessary until they are true huge adults.

::Some random newer pics that I snapped a while ago... Hatched june/july '01, bigger girl is around 6.5-7ft... smaller 5.5-6..
::so here's a question. This seems to be a common debate.. Some people recommend feeding beauties small food items, not as often, because they get obese easily. Others say to feed large items, often, because of their fast metabolisms. Now in my experiance, my taiwans would drop weight quickly if on smaller food items, or larger ones less often. They seem to be a healthy weight and thickness, not too fat, not too thin, and I've been feeding mine 1 large/jumbo rat a week for quite a while. Before that was small/medium rats.. I can't imagine feeding these guys 1 or 2 mice.. They'd just get too thin.. anyhow, here's some pics..
