: i purchased a pair of taiwan beauties that are around 4-5' at three years of age. at the time i didn't know they can grow that large in their first year. with heavy feeding can their maximum potential growth still be acheived?
I think it depends and varies from specimen to specimen.
I have a three years old male that won't reach 2 meters...
..but some specimens (Austria and Germany) reach
and maybe exceed three meters.
It depends.

I live in Italy and for Elaphe longissima is the same.
You can rarely find huge specimens (160 cm or maybe more),
but some populations have animals of normally 1-1,30 meters.
I don't think it depends on food amount: it's probably
genetically determined.
