Shaky,
BHB Enterprises is also working with albino Baird's. This mutation has been around for several years, it's not something that just popped up overnight. A few years back I asked Brian about the origins of his albino Baird's rat and he told me they came from Europe. I'm not sure but there may be photos on his site. If not, he usually has offspring for sale every month in Columbus, Ohio at the reptile show.

In addition, there were some adults for sale on the classifieds a few days ago from someone other than Mr. Smith or Mr Barczyk. So that's at least three sources that are producing them (four if you count Gregg!)

There were several discussions on the albino Bairdi last year, but no one could produce pictures, and all that was known is that "somebody, maybe in Europe" had claimed to produce these. In any case, the claim was benerally believed to be either bogus or the Bairdi were crossed with black rat to introduce the amel recessive.

I think the reason no one could produce pics is because none of the forum regulars were working with them. I took some crappy shots of albino Baird's at the Ohio expo a few years back and posted them here, but they did the animals no justice. Its very hard to get a good pic of them, especially indoors while in plastic containers!

Later,
dg
