Some hatchlings are a bit snappy initially but calm down over the course of a few months. Captive raised animals turn into well adjusted animals that should be calm and easily handled. I've only had one situla that could have been considered difficult. It was a nervous snake that had apparently not fed voluntarily for over three years before I got it and it didn't feed voluntarily for me for another 2 1/2 years. It was an adult when I got it.
