The leopard snake Elaphe mandarina is a small european member of the genus. Despite their nice colors and size they are not so often seen in private collections.
E situla should be kept a little cooler than most ratsnakes and need a 2-3 month hibernation to breed on a regular basis. They prefer live and small food items, but most can accept even defrosted mice after a period of time. Juveniles are easy IF fed with live pinkies and can reach maturity in 15 month.
The only problem is few eggs. I have had 12 eggs in one clutch, but normally there are 2-4. The eggs should be kept at no more than 27 degrees Celcius and expect more males than females.
There are two "common" color morphs: a blotched and a striped. The blotched is the usual form, and the striped is more rare. Here in Europe most juveniles are blotched and the price for the striped form is much higher. Striped situlas can be bought but they are rare to find especially females.
Best wishes
