Dwight, I would say on average one of those turns up every year. Unfortunately my pic doesn't show that trait to the full extent. I'm surprised someone picked up on it. Not my best pic. As I recall, it was one of those hot days in July and I had been out all day and had seen very little. Right as I ready to give up and pack it in, I decided to hit one more site on the way back. I was surprised to find that snake at all in the hottest part of the day, but it was in a forested area. Most of the red on these snakes are in the fore part of the body and in the tail. I left that snake in the field, and unfortunately didn't get any better pics of it.
Looking forward to hitting the field with you! Maybe we'll turn one of these up.
