I've never heard it suggested that they are rear-fanged, however in my own personal experience I have found that they have a different type of saliva than other colubirds I handle (and get bitten by) regularly.
Only after a bout of chasing a radiated rat snake around the room and ending up carrying one back to it's tub as it's attached to my thumb, do I get small infections at the sight of the puncture. It's nothing that doesn't go away after a few days, but I find it's only the radiated rat snake bites that inflame so much. I attributed it to excess acid in the saliva, perhaps even a personal allergy to it, or even maybe that they lose more teeth when they dig in than others, as their teeth do seem softer, and that's what aggravates it. I don't know what it is that causes it, but if anyone else has experienced anything like this, please let me know,
Kris
