From your two posts it sounds like the coxi can retain sperm for future fertilizations. This is possible with several other Old World Elaphe too. We have seen fall breedings with bimaculata and dione. They can carry viable sperm over the winter. And I believe we got a dione clutch w/o a spring breeding. Possibly the coxi retain sperm over the winter, but captive conditions make it possible for them to stay active longer, and thus the egg development.
Just thinking out loud. Good luck with them.

:today we got 9(!) eggs from a coxi female, that was her second clutch for the year. that is also the largest Coxi clutch for us ever. it appears we have 2 more gravid females as well.
:normally, this would not only be extremely weird timing, but it would be fruitless as well, as it is the end of December, and we have already started cooling the colubrid room down to 55.
:but with our new setups (see reference in post below) the animals have a range of temp choices, a good gradient, and they still have access to temps that allow for proper egg development.
:this one is fascinating for me, i look forward to learning even more from these great snakes : )
